HM Forces Railcard extended to members of the Volunteer Reserves and their families

Members of the Volunteer Reserves, their spouses or civil partners, and their dependent children are now eligible for the HM Forces Railcard.

Available from 1 July 2014, the railcard will save a third off normal fares. Existing holders were already saving an average of £143 per year.

BAFF congratulates the train operating companies, working with MoD, for introducing this attractive new benefit for members of the volunteer reserve forces. The concession was announced by Prime Minister David Cameron on Armed Forces Day 2014.

The card can be purchased through your unit HR admin staff. Info also available at Forces Railcard Q & A, or visit HM Forces Railcard website.

The actual discount on eligible fares is 34% off a wide range of fares, and 10% off the Caledonian Sleeper operated by Scotrail.
