We are the British Armed Forces Federation - BAFF - the only independent, all-ranks, tri-service representative staff association open to serving members of any branch of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army or Royal Air Force, including the reserves.

All HM forces personnel of any rank are eligible to join and, as BAFF is not a political organisation, to take an active part in its activities if they like.

Former members of the regular or reserve forces are also welcome. Our main focus is on issues affecting current serving personnel, but many of these issues don't end at the barrack gate and our veteran members have a great deal of experience and expertise to offer. A fully embedded federation would adjust its constitution.

Launched in December 2006 in the face of heavy-duty opposition at the time, BAFF remains totally unofficial, and not in any way funded, sponsored or controlled by the Ministry of Defence, but still "friendly forces" to the British armed forces and veteran community in general.

The Federation's ongoing work includes its campaign for legal recognition of sensible representative arrangements for armed forces personnel, as in an armed forces representative body.
