Civil Nuclear Constabulary highlights career opportunities for Armed Forces community

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is stepping up its engagement with serving personnel, service leavers, veterans and their families, highlighting opportunities for careers in armed policing and other specialist roles.

In an announcement published on 14 October, the CNC describes its continuing collaboration with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) and British Forces Resettlement Services (BFRS) to help members of the Armed Forces community explore employment opportunities.

The CNC is a specialist armed police force responsible for protecting the UK's civil nuclear sites and materials. Its roles can offer former military personnel opportunities to put their existing skills and experience to use in civilian employment.

Recruitment events and webinars

CNC representatives are attending regional recruitment events and delivering online webinars to explain the role of an Authorised Firearms Officer (AFO), entry requirements, recruitment procedures and career development opportunities.

A recent webinar organised with CTP attracted around 30 participants from the Armed Forces community. Serving CNC officers discussed transferable military skills, relocation, integration into local communities and the specialist Counter Terrorism Authorised Firearms Officer (CT-AFO) role.

The CNC also regularly attends BFRS careers fairs, where prospective applicants can meet officers, examine equipment and discuss individual circumstances, including family and relocation considerations.

Further opportunities

The CNC holds a Silver Award under the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme and is working towards Gold recognition.

Its next advertised appearance at a BFRS recruitment event will be at Catterick on 26 November 2026, with registration now open.
