10 - On World Mental Health Day, BAFF Chairman Douglas Young was interviewed for BBC Radio Scotland about the new MoD campaign called "Don't bottle it up" to promote better awareness of mental health injuries, to encourage service-people to come forward if they are suffering a mental health problem.

30 - BAFF spokesman Adrian Weale was interviewed on the BBC News Channel about today's Royal Navy redundancy notifications.

30 - Earlier, BAFF's Douglas Young was interviewed on (1) Radio 5 Live and (2) BBC Radio Scotland ahead of the RN tranche 1 redundancy notifications. Clips were also used in various news bulletins.

08 - BAFF Executive Chairman Douglas Young quoted in BBC story - Soldier allegedly cut fingers off dead Taliban and in  Guardian, Mail, Independent, and other UK and foreign media.

08 - The BAFF Executive Chairman was also quoted in a story on Albanian news site Top Channel as stating he was "shocked to learn of the incident". In fact Young, as quoted in the above BBC story, had said that:

he was "shocked" to learn of the investigation.

He added: "While the facts still need to be established, if there turns out to be anything in these claims, clearly the MoD are correct to treat the matter very seriously.

"The alleged behaviour is totally out of kilter with the ethos of the armed forces."

06 - Douglas Young was quoted in the Daily Telegraph's lead story which revealed the allegation that bereaved service families might have been targeted in the phone hacking scandal:   Phone hacking: families of war dead 'targeted' by News of the World. Young was also interviewed about this on Radio 5 live.

13 -  Another BAFF milestone! ... a passing mention in tonight's (repeat) episode of BAFTA-winning sitcom Gary: Tank Commander.

13 - Speaking on the BBC Radio Scotland 'Good Morning Scotland' programme, with Stewart Nicol Chief Executive of the area's Chamber of Commerce, BAFF Chairman Douglas Young discussed speculation that Fort George near Inverness could close as an army barracks, as part of the defence basing changes due to be announced by the Defence Secretary by 19 July.

14 - BAFF spokesman Adrian Weale was interviewed on a Sky News report about giving legal force to the Military Covenant. "It's time to marry up the reality with the aspiration", he said. Weale was also interviewed on the same subject for Channel 4 News.

03 - An article by the BAFF Executive Chairman was published on the Telegraph website - Troop cuts 'will affect front line morale'

02 - BAFF Executive Chairman Douglas Young was quoted in a Daily Telegraph report about the latest armed forces redundancy announcement.

Col Douglas Young, the executive chairman of the British Armed Forces Federation, said: "Of course the threat of redundancy will affect morale on the front line. How could it not? Servicemen and women in Afghanistan will continue to perform professionally, as they always do. But redundancy has to be a distraction."
